Late Night Poem (I)

    !

There was a smell in your eyes,
A long thread of muffled ice,
The night flags a battered sleep,
And the neck releases a song.
Of midnight birds to be born.
But soon the night will fly,
Set your fire against the sky,
And soon my eyes shall freeze
